hi josh, i just back from cabarete and i must say that it's not the best place to start out at. michel is right about kitepoint the ocean is "calmer" but i kitted the coast line and the waves are still present, it,s tough just learning to kitesurf let alone the waves, chop and other kiter's trying to learn at the same time. on a good day there is over 100 kiter's on the spot lots of trafic and the people dont respect the " kite surfing rules " hell there is no rules there. lol ( joke ) here is a clip from a light wind day, look at all the kite's.
http://tiny.cc/fiugy i would want to learn at a spot where there's flat water like in cuba. I would try to get to hatteras that is the ultimate flatwater dream, and there is some teachers from quebec there.
ps.. look up kiteforce i think he will be in cuba till the end of march..
