Foil: Une partie de cette maniabilité provient du faible poids, mais plusieurs facteurs entrent également en jeu. Du côté du foil, le fuselage court (longueur totale ~50cm) auquel est fixé un petit stabilisateur donne au foil un comportement réactif. Au moindre mouvement du corps, le foil réagit immédiatement. Également, comme le stabilisateur est fixé avec un avec un angle pratiquement nul, celui-ci génère peu de poussé verticale et donne au board une assiette neutre avec peu de pression sur le pied avant. En fait la majorité du poids est concentré sur la jambe arrière qui se positionne derrière le mat. Le foil a une trainée minimale ce qui fait qu'il a une vitesse naturelle légèrement plus élevée que les foils conventionnels (e.g. Shinn ou Lift).
Planche: Au niveau de la planche, la faible longueur (106cm) réduit au minimum l'inertie rotationnelle et permet de faire pivoter le board rapidement autour du mat. La planche est rigide et permet une transmission instantanée au foil de tout mouvement du corps. Le rocker du nez est parfait; j'ai été étonné de constater qu'il ne s'enfonce jamais et pardonne les erreurs. La surface est peu orthodoxe et ressemble à du papier sablé. Bien que je n'aie jamais vu cela sur un autre board, l'adhérence est impressionnante et je dirais même supérieure à celle offerte par un pad de mousse. Dans l'ensemble, l'attention aux détails est frappante tout en conservant un design minimaliste. Ce que j'entends par là c'est que rien ne semble avoir été laissé au hasard; chaque détail parait être le résultat d'une démarche visant à maximiser la performance. Un exemple parmi d'autre est la façon dont les carres de la planche passent d'une arrête raide à l'arrière vers un arrondi complet à l'avant. La finition générale est impeccable.
Points négatifs: Avant de mentionner quelques points que j'ai perçus comme négatifs, je dois mentionner que ceux-ci résultent possiblement d'une adaptation nécessaire de ma part à ce nouveau board qui est radicalement différent de tout ce que j'ai pu rider dans le passé (Shinn, Lift, Slingshot & Naish). Tout d'abord, j'ai trouvé que le board flotte beaucoup, ce qui fait que les démarrages strapless sans tenir le board sont parfois difficiles. Également, la partie arrière du board m'apparait large, j'aurais aimé y retrancher quelques centimètres afin de pouvoir gagner quelques degrés lorsque je carve (Note: j'ai un mat de 60cm donc peu de marge de manoeuvre, avec un mat standard de 86.5cm, cela n'est peut-être pas un problème). Le fait qu'il n'est pas possible de séparer le mat du fuselage est certainement un avantage côté poids et trainée, par contre côté transport cela passe dans une valise, mais c'est serré. Finalement, théoriquement une seule longueur de mat (86.5cm) est disponible, mais comme je l'ai fait, il y a la possibilité (*à confirmer) de faire ajuster la longueur sur mesure.
Public cible: Selon moi le H14+Caneri Pro est un incontournable pour les freerideurs avancés qui sont déjà confortables avec un foil traditionnel et qui recherchent une plateforme pour passer à un autre niveau. La première fois que j'ai ridé un Horue, j'ai passé près de 30 minutes avant de réussir à sortir de l'eau. Depuis, même si je ne suis pas encore aussi confortable sur le Horue que sur un Shinn ou sur un Lift, je sens que le potentiel pour progresser dans la veine freeride est bien plus grand qu'avec tout ce que j'ai ridé dans le passé.
En résumé: Horue est sur une autre planète comparativement à tout ce qui se fait sur le marché. La maniabilité inégalée de leur produit me laisse croire que celui-ci sera copié par les marques mainstream dans les prochaines années lorsque le nombre de gens en foil avec un niveau avancé aura atteint une masse critique. D'ici là à vous la chance de profiter de ce foil du futur.

Most remember that Horue has the lightest combo board+foil on the market (<6 lbs). Having a light board/foil is nice, yet it is not a finality in itself. What distinguishes Horue from others is its incredible responsiveness.
Foil: A part of the responsiveness comes from its light weight, however, many other factors also play a role. On the foil, the short fuselage (total length ~50cm) on which is attached a small stabilizer wing gives the foil its responsive behaviour. The foil instantly reacts to any body movement. Also, because the stabilizer is almost parallel to the fuselage, it generates only little upward pressure and gives the board a neutral attitude, with little pressure on the front foot. Actually, most of the weight is on the back foot, which is positioned behind the mast. The foil has a minimal drag resistance resulting in a natural speed that is slightly higher than traditional foils (e.g. Shinn ou Lift).
Board: The short board length (106cm) reduces to a minimum the rotational inertia and allows to quickly pivot the board around the mast. The board is stiff and allows for an instant transfer of body movements to the foil. The board's rocker is perfect; I have been surprised to see that it never dive in the water and that it is forgiving. The surface is atypical and looks like sandpaper. Even if I have never seen that on any other board, the grip is impressive, I would even say that it is better than what you would have with a foam traction pad. Overall, the attention to the details is striking while keeping a minimalist design. What I mean is that nothing seems to be there by chance or coincidence; each detail seems to be the result of an explicit design effort aiming at maximizing the performance. An example among others is the way edges transition from a sharp corner behind the board to fully rounded in front. In general, the construction finish is flawless.
Negative points: Before mentioning some points I have perceived as negative, I must acknowledge that these are possibly caused by an adaptation that is required from my side, because the foil is radically different from anything I have ridden in the past (Shinn, Lift, Slingshot & Naish). First, I found that the board floats a lot which makes the strapless waterstarts somewhat difficult when not holding the board. Also the rear end of the board seems to be wide. I would have removed a couple of centimetres in order to gain a couple of degrees while carving (Note: I have a 60cm mast so I have little margin for error. With a standard mast (86.5cm), this might not be an issue). The fact that it is not possible to separate the mast and the fuselage is an advantage from the perspective of weight and drag, yet its size barely fits in a travel board bag. Finally, there is theoretically only one mast length available (86.5cm), nevertheless as I did, it is possible (*to be confirmed) to have the mast modified to a custom length.
Target public: In my opinion, the H14+Caneri Pro is a must for advanced freeriders who are already comfortable with a traditional foil and who are looking for new gear that will allow them to reach another level. The first time I have ridden a Horue, I have spent almost 30 minutes before being able to get out of the water. Since, even if I am not yet as comfortable on the Horue as I am on a Shinn or on a Lift, I perceive that the potential for freeride progression is much greater than with anything I have ridden in the past.
In short: Horue is on another planet compared to everything that exists on the market. The unequalled responsiveness of their product let me believe that its design will be copied by mainstream brands in the next years, when the number of advanced foil riders will have reached a critical mass. Until then, it is up to you to take advantage of this foil from the future.
